So where am I at with my WIPs (work in progress) at the start of April?
I started this quilt in May 2016 and I did complete the quilt top in December 2016. I couldn’t work out how I wanted to quilt it so I sandwiched the quilt and put it away. I have just got it out again and started quilting it. So hopefully binding and the completion by the end of April.
Garden Patch Pouch
I did have my first really foray into applique. I saw this lovely Sarah Fielke pattern on Instagram. It was for a small zippered pouch. Her instructions were super easy to follow and utilising some of her online tutorials I could finish it quickly. It was also easy to install the zip and I used her suggested tutorial for this as well. So now I feel like a zip expert! I am super pleased with the outcome.
After this, I went to the Monbulk quilt show where I met the Gemeli Girls at their trade stand. I picked up a pattern for an I pad cover. This was using an iron-on fuse technique for the applique. This was also super easy. I have finished the applique and just need to make the actual pouch. I have decided to alter the pattern and put a zip on the top rather than a loop and button closure to make it more useful.
Green Hexis (AHHHHs)
My longest WIPs that started in 2014, and then didn’t touch it again – I did describe it in my post here. I have now completed 80 hexagons which are all that are available in that series. Originally there were to be 170+ but the owner Tonya has changed her plan since I started so I missed out. I have reworked some of them as looking back some of the greens just didn’t go well together. I am just deciding on how to put all the hexagons together. How will I break up the details with plainer hexagons and solid diamonds maybe?
So, that is where I am at. On top of my WIPs. As you know I try not to have too much on the go. I will let you know when they are all finished and I start my net project.
