There is something super cool happening in the quilting community on Instagram. You really should check out the #getyouraussiequiltywish (if you are in Australia) or #getyourquiltywishesgranted (if you are in the US). It is so easy to participate.
IG quilters are posting a wish for a pattern, a fabric, scraps or a colourway. Other others grant that wish out of the kindness of their heart. Mailing out the wish feels great. Usually, you don’t know the person. You just know that you are helping them to complete a project with some hard to find fabric or something similar.
Some people get really into the packaging and sending little extra fabrics. I have seen photos of the envelopes with stickers and washi tape on the outside. So the art of sending the package also makes you feel good. Then when the package arrives in the mail. Imagine it appearing in your mailbox looking all decorative and holding that piece of fabric that you have been hunting for. So lovely.
I have granted three wishes and it feels so nice to help someone out and if someone helps you it would feel great too. It is just so nice all around.
I guess around Christmas time it can get really overwhelming for everyone – with so much to do. So it is about finding those little moments of joy which is what Christmas is all about anyway.
