So this is my first post, my first blog. It is a little bit exciting! I am still learning how to setup my page. I am actually doing a blog with me course with Pip Lincolne. So as I progress through the weeks of the course my pages will improve. I hope you have had a look at or will have a look at my about me page and have thought that you might be interested in reading my blog. Mostly I hope to fill it with things I am sewing and as a newbie how I am learning and what I am experiencing as I navigate my way through the patchwork and quilting world.
So what started my fascination with patchwork? I decided I wanted to sew and bought my first a sewing machine. After a bit of research I took myself off to some private lessons. Here I made myself some cushions and some pyjama pants.
As you can see the cushion covers a very basic patchwork. So off I went and bought a few quilting magazines looking for further learn at home ideas. I came across a BOM (I didn’t even know that meant block of the month till I signed up). So I signed myself up to Sue Daley’s little things – a six month EPP BOM where you get different paper shapes and fabric each month to make dolly quilts – perfect.
The first package arrived – clamshells, hand sewn! I hadn’t even realised this…. I didn’t even know what EPP was. So with the help on the instructions that came with the package and some youtube videos I made a little quilt that I later made into a cushion cover.
I was so proud. Over the next few months I made – elongated hexagons, diamonds, apple cores, whirly gigs and kites.
I started to read more magazines and bought all the EPP books that I could. Which two years ago wasn’t that many. Since then EPP has started to become more popular. I had become ADDICTED.
So I ask what was you first project? What made you a patchwork addict?
