This afternoon I took my mum and we headed off to the headquarters of the embroiderers guild on in Malvern. At the moment they have an exhibition called Through Doors and Windows.
How pretty is the building and the cottage garden out the front.
It is a showcase of their members works with a whole variety of different styles from traditional to contemporary as well as some textile art. There are some pieces for sale as well as the obligatory raffle.
I couldn’t take photos inside the gallery but there were a wide variety of different pieces. There really was something to be enjoyed by everyone. While we were there we did chat with Mandy Ginsbery who was demonstrating freeform canvas work. On the flyer it is one of her pieces featured. The different ways of using colour and texture was so interesting. She told us that she took some of her inspiration from a textile artist called Sue Dove. I will have to investigate her works further. I did try to google Mandy when I got home but could only find information about previous classes that she has run at the guild.
I must highly recommend the gift boutique while you are there. There are some really beautiful items for sale. I bought two pincushions and a scissor thingy…
I believe there is a Christmas sale on the 4th of December I know I will be there 🙂
On another note I did also do some rosette cutting for myself today. I am up to number 9 – which is in shades of pink. I will do another blog post about this QAL.
